Bernard Okok

Lead Technical Expert & Trainer

Bernard is a distinguished peacebuilding and conflict management expert with over 20 years of experience facilitating humanitarian interventions and reconciliation dialogues. He serves as the Lead Technical Expert for the Building Initiative for Peace in Sudan (BIPS)—a locally driven program funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and managed by DT Institute.


Representing i-APS, Bernard spearheads a "Train-the-Trainer" cascade model designed to empower local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and community leaders. He oversees a comprehensive 8-module curriculum featuring the following courses:

  • Module 1: Foundations of Conflict Transformation
  • Module 2: Conflict Analysis & Mapping
  • Module 3: Conflict-Sensitive Programming (Do No Harm)
  • Module 4: Community-Based Reconciliation
  • Module 5: Digital Resilience & Counter-Disinformation
  • Module 6: Trauma-Informed Engagement
  • Module 7: Effective Facilitation (Train-the-Trainer)
  • Module 8: Monitoring, Reflection & Adaptive Learning

Bernard holds an MA in Peace Studies and International Relations and is a specialist in youth and women-led peace initiatives across the Horn and Great Lakes regions.
