Services in Monitoring & Evaluation

In humanitarian situations, addressing underlying issues can be challenging due to the severity and complexity of challenges present. To improve outcomes for affected communities, effective interventions are necessary, and a results-chain is essential for accountability, learning, and making adjustments to projects. i-APS' MEL teams are experts in developing results frameworks that outline the activities, expected outcomes, strategic objectives, and overall goals of an intervention. This framework ensures that programs align with the overall objectives and enables the tracking and evaluation of progress.
i-APS uses evaluation matrices and tailored tools to ensure reliable data collection in sensitive environments and vulnerable populations while adhering to core humanitarian standards. We recruit field teams from target communities, train them in both in-person and remote data collection, and support them with an in-house data analysis team. Our MEL teams, led by subject matter experts and supported by national field-teams, use quantitative and qualitative data collection methods to examine relationships between contexts, project features, major events, and other variables of interest. We collect reliable data to independently verify key questions in various settings, including active conflict zones and hard-to-reach areas. i-APS partners with diverse stakeholders to support learning and accountability. We develop context-sensitive tools and data collection strategies, integrating MEL into overall organizational learning to support donor accountability and improve humanitarian programming.
i-APS has established management systems to collect high-quality, verified data and produce credible and effective reports. We use data quality auditing tools to evaluate a programs' ability to report high-quality data and improve data management and reporting systems. This ensures that data is reliable and provides sound evidence for decision-making.
i-APS offers customized training programs designed to enhance MEL thinking, approaches, and tools. These training programs are based on an assessment of staff needs, program requirements, and organizational practices. The training combines practical and theoretical sessions to strengthen data management functions, instill relevant concepts, and provide practical tools that improve performance and reporting.
Gender relationships and social vulnerability are interrelated, and it's rare for any project or intervention to be completely gender-neutral. To address this, i-APS methodology incorporates gender-sensitive monitoring and evaluation and targeted participatory methods to reduce vulnerability and ensure equitable distribution of benefits. Our data collection tools consider gender perspectives by disaggregating data and understanding project effects on different groups of beneficiaries, so that necessary adjustments can be identified. Additionally, our field teams consist of at least 50% women, including leadership levels, as we are a woman-owned business.
